Siddhartha Gautama budha , one of the spiritual gurus of the time, is the founder of Buddhism. Gautama budha is also known as Sakyamuni. The Buddha was born in a noble family of the kshatriyas in Lumbini , Kapilavastu. Geographically the region is located in the present-day Nepal country. But historically this region was under ancient India.

Siddhartha lived a life of luxury as a prince since childhood. His father raised Siddhartha with the intention of making him a great emperor, unaware of any philosophical matters or the hardships of the common people.

Siddhartha was married to Yashodhara at the age of 16 years. They had a son named Rahul. Thus Siddhartha enjoyed royalties for 29 years. Although Maharaja Shuddhodhana, father of gouthama budha, provided all the luxuries, Siddhartha believed that enjoying worldly pleasures was not the ultimate goal of life.

At the age of 29, one night he snuck out of the palace to see the life of people in his kingdom. his chariot driver Channa drive him through the local village. Siddhartha saw a saint, an elderly man, a sick man, a corpse.  he was deeply disturbed to know that every human being could not escape from old age and sufferings. then he  decided to live a monastic life with the intention of conquering old age, disease and death.

Then Siddhartha, with the help of his chariot driver Channa, one day escaped from the palace on a horse named Kantaka to live a monastic life. during living this kind of monastic life  he suffered greatly like through disease, hunger, pain, loniliness.

Siddhartha later became an apprentice along with five other people at the Kaundinudane Yogi. All those disciples practiced the complete renunciation of external bodily needs (including food) for the acquisition of knowledge. In this way Siddhartha completely depleted his body by consuming one leaf or one nut per day. after some years he began to notice that the suffering was not what he had desired Then Siddhartha realized that the path he had chosen was not the right one.

   Enlightenment

Siddhartha later found the middle path through meditation and anapanasati (inhalation, exhalation) (renunciation of worldly pleasures, desires). At this time, Sujatha, a villager, used to bring rice and milk for him . Later Siddhartha, in Buddha Gaya, meditated to know the ultimate truth under the Bodhi tree. Finally, at the age of 35, after 49 days of meditation, Siddhartha attained the enlightenment
The buddha we know is the person who attained enlightenment under at tree. but we must also know that, he was a prince who left all his royalties and luxuries to achieve the enlightenment.
